Game 12 vs. The Avalanche
Shorthanded Sharks go on a streak..
Fate dealt the sharks a blow with multiple players sitting out due to health and vacation. With only two full lines to start the game against a very strong Avalanche team we knew this one was going to be a tough one.
The Avalanche drew first blood with a goal from Jacob K.
around the 7 minute mark of the first. The rest of the period was pretty tight.
Logan scored
his first of what would be another big game for him right near the end of the
first, this one was assisted by Kalib. Max gave the Sharks the lead at 8:04 of
the second. Jacob K shortly tied it up for the Avs. Logan answered almost immediately and the
Sharks regained the lead. Harrison O found the back of the Sharks net at 1:48 of
the second and Ryan Heath. capped off the period with a go ahead goal at 1:20 in
the second. It appeared that the Sharks had run out of gas due to the short
bench. A quick pep talk during the break and the Sharks were able to find a
second wind as Carson
potted a goal which was assisted by Gabe in the first minute of the 3rd
to tie the game yet again. Ryan Holly scored for the Avs to regain the lead, but
the Sharks would not quit, Max took a pass from Kalib and tied it up again at
the 9 minute mark. Logan found his hat trick for
the third straight game and gave the sharks the lead with 7:49 to go, it was
assisted by his cousin Lydia.
It was now up to the Avalanche to come from behind and Ryan Holly was the kid to do
it. The see saw-battle only had 5 minutes left to go. The Sharks were about to
put on an offensive zone clinic and would not allow the Avalanche to get the
puck out of their zone. The frenzy eventually paid off with Logan tucking in goal #4 with 2 minutes to
play, it was assisted by Kalib to bring his assist total to 3 on the day. Kalib
added to his point total with a Goal to close out the game with 42 seconds to
go, this one would be assisted by Gabe.
This win would not have been possible without the hard work
of everyone. Colin continues to hone his skill on the blue line and Zach is
looking like a man possessed with his relentless forecheck. Finally and most
importantly Williem had a huge game between the pipes this week turning away 41
of 47 shots. We closed out the regular season and roll into the playoffs on a
winning streak, firing on all cylinders. I can’t wait until next week.
See you at the rink…
