Cobras 2-2-0 in OMHA Playdowns
The Kent Atom AE Cobras went 2-2-0 during the OMHA playdowns held in Windsor Jan. 25-27.
The Cobras faced Belle River in their first game and were overcome 5-4 in overtime. Dylan Holly scored twice, Cameron Duquette scored one and assisted on another and Julian Verleye also scored. Assists went to Cameron Knotek, Devyn Doucet, Simon Coelho and Shaun Glover. Cameron Lynds and Caleb Stoddart shared duties in net.
Playing against Tecumseh in the second game proved very exciting as the game again went into overtime and then a shootout before the Cobras took the win 4-2. Jordan Dixon and Dylan Holly scored in regulation time and shootout goals went to Devyn Doucet and Ryan Kelly. Caleb Stoddart played an outstanding game in net, stopping every shot during the overtime and shootout!
Game three showed a strong Cobra team the entire game, with a 5-1 win over Belle River. Devyn Doucet scored and had two assists and Simon Coelho scored and had one assist. Ryan Tremblay scored a beautiful goal on a penalty shot, while Cameron Knotek and Julian Verleye also scored one a piece. Joshua Balan and Shaun Glover also had assists for the Cobras. The winning goalie was Caleb Stoddart.
In the final game the Cobras all battled hard until the end, finishing the weekend with an unfortunate 1-0 loss vs Lasalle. Cameron Lynds played very well in net facing many many shots!
The coaches and players should all be very proud of their galiant efforts and sportsmanship this weekend! Way to go Cobras!
