Playoff Time, Rnd 1 - The Asher, Owen, Bubba and Devon Show!
On Saturday, the Rangers took on the Leafs in round 1 of the playoffs.

My appologies for being away 2 weeks and not updating the site.  I was sitting on a beach and coming up with strategy for the playoffs.....

First off, congratulations to the Rangers for finishing the regualr season in first place.  This is not something that is easily earned.  This is a result of your kids continual effort and development this year.
Awesome job Rangers.

Secondly, congratualtions to the Rangers team for winning the Windsor Family Day Hockey Tournament.  It was 5 games straight of constant effort.  Even games that were won 10-0 were hard faught and earned.  Honable mention goes out to the entire team!

And now for the playoffs.

Game 1 was a good one and one that could only be won be playing as a team and skating hard.  The Leafs, as we saw again on Saturday, are a much improved team.

Game notes:

-Lucas Kirchner is a machine!  Lucas, in the last few weeks, has scored 13 or more points in 3 games!  This game, he continued his strong play and net 2 goals and recorded an assist.  Lucas is the offensive version of Sobey.  He plays like he is 6"4, 225lbs.  Awesome work bubba!
-Asher Wygiera was an absolute monster this game.  He played his best game of the year.  Asher hustled all game, had 2 shots on net and crashed the net for rebounds on his line mates shots.  Asher, also noteably used both legs in his skating! This is a huge development and one that is going to have Asher reaking havoc on opposing team defences!!!  Asher, awesome, awesome, awesome!!!
-Devon Wilson.  Much the same as Asher, came in and was ready to play from the opening faceoff.  Devon skated hard all game, made some great passes out of our zone and had 2 shots on net.  It was in the 3rd period that Devon rifled a shot at net that beat the Leaf goalie 5 hole.  Devon shored his first career goal!!!!!!  Nice work Devon, that will be the first of many in your hockey career!!!
-Owen Lamb was something else as well!  Owen played hard all game, had 3 or 4 shots, crashed the net for rebounds and played his best game all year.  In the second period, Owen skated hard to get in the rush and crashed the net for a rebound.  He managed to find the puck in the front of the net and burried it!  Great work Owen, keep it up buddy!
-Noah Wilson had a fantastic game filled with great chances to score.  Noah played on his normal line with Kaleb Wilson and Williem Seguin.  Noah worked hard all game and made some great shots and passes.  Noah is beginning to relize that he has great speed.  Keep up the good work Noah.
-Aiden Venhuizen played like a seasoned leader today.  Aiden shot the puck, made great passes and continues to come back and play excellent defense.  Towards the end of the game, Aiden was really working hard to get the puck to Asher and to Noah.  Awesome work Aiden.
-Victor continues to skate with 2 hands on the stick and is beginning to relize he is fast.  In the family day tournament, Victor scored his first career goal, and it was a beauty.  Keep up the great work Victorino!!!
-Kaleb Wilson and Williem Seguin played another fantastic game together.  They find ways to break out of the zone, score goals and play defence.  These 2 forwards may have finished the season leading the entire league in points!
On defence,
-Memphis played a great defensive game.  He cleared the puck well and actually played in front of the blueline in the offensive zone.  Memphis has come a long way and is now beginning to take advantage of his superb skating ability.  Awesome work Memphis.
-Sobey Solway played another fantastic game.  Sobey plays hard every shift and never quits.  He is becoming more comfortable and is really starting to move the puck well.  Great work Sobey!!!
-Ethan Vandermeersch continues to play like a captain.  E-man may be the best defensive defenceman in the league, while also having tremendous offesive upside.  Keep working hard E-man!!!
-Carter Evans continues to be cool, calm and collective on the ice.  Carter has been one of the most consistent players on the ice all year.  He will give maximum effort in any position and will also do so with a smile on his face.  I don't think I have seen him not smiling all year!!! What a gift to coach!!!
-Ethan Crow.  Possibly the smartest defenceman in the league.  Ethans understadning of positioning is by far that of a novice hockey player.  Ethan seems to be well aware of where he is on the ice and who is around him.  That is something that he has learned on his own!  Awesome job Ethan.
-Lastly, a team is only as good as its goalie!  Kassidy has been an absolute gift for the Rangers this year.  she has played well all year and this game was no different.  She is coming out of the net more and cutting down angles, making it increasingly difficult for opposition to score.  Kassidy has also informed me that she is retiring from Novice hockey after this year.  Next year, she will be playing with the Outlaws and on her way to play for Team Canada.  Im calling it now, she will play for Team Canada!

Points.
2 goals, 1 assist Lucas "Bubba," Kirchner
2 goals  Williem Seguin
1 goal, 1 assist Kaleb Wilson
1 goal, 1 assist Owen Lamb
1 goal  Devon Wilson
1 goal Aiden Venhuizen
1 assist Noah Wilson

*There were more assists, but for this game it looks like the refs missed them.

Awesome work Rangers.  See you Saturday at 2:15pm for game 2 against the Leafs.
