Playoffs Game 1 vs The Predators: All hands on deck!
Today the AtoMc Redwings started their playoff push with an outstanding effort from everyone. The pregame speech focused on puck possession, and defensive awareness. The kids were all fired up and it translated to the action on the ice.

While the Predators opened the scoring early in the 1st (Brandon Savage), that goal would be all Brady would allow. He made multiple glove saves and shrugged off a handful of other shots from the perimeter. Our Defense (Robert, Lydia, Zack and Gordo) did an incredible job of limiting the high quality scoring chances, Christian, Hunter and Kalib showed superior back checking to make our defence’s job easy. When the puck was out of our zone Jax, Greg, Williem, Aiden and Cam provided pressure in the Preds zone. Every one of them had quality looks at goals. Williem was able to bookend our scoring with 2 goals (one in the first and one early in the third). Hunter added a couple, one in the 1st and another early in the 3rd. Christian chipped in half way through the 2nd.

In the end the score was 5-1, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort and energy from the Preds, they have an extremely competitive core starting with players like Sawyer, Alex, Kami, Charlie, Hunter and Brandon. When these players get some puck luck and find their chemistry they have the ability to obliterate teams.

The golden jersey this week went to Kalib Stonefish for his outstanding two-way game. I have coached Kalib for 3 years now and to see him do what he did today is miles away from the kind of player he was 3 years ago. He is now a legitimate threat in every zone on the ice and goal scoring isn’t his only focus. Well done buddy!

Our next game is at 9:20 again vs the AtoMc Blue team who is coming fresh off of a huge win against AtoMc White. Hopefully we can slow down their momentum. Until then…

See ya at the rink,

Coach Scott
