Consolation Championship Game vs White- The End of the Road.. My Last Novel..
Well sports fans, it’s been a real trip this season, I laughed, I cried, I even tried my hand at mind control on one of our coaches (unsuccessfully, I might add. I have come to the conclusion that I am not a Jedi Master.)

This past weekend we took on a very skilled AtoMc White team. Ryan Hoekstra showed up after winning the Goalie of the Year honors for the entire league the day before and he did an outstanding job yet again.

The entire White team threw everything they had at us, but for the most part the effective back checking by our two centermen and our aggressive defense was able to keep shots on Brady to a minimum. When they did get shots through he shut ‘em down and then our wingers took care of the offensive side of the puck. The entire team did an outstanding job killing penalties as well (lots of them). On that note I have been told that if I have nothing nice to say about the referees I am not to say anything... Soooooo that’s all I have to say about that.. :P

In the end the AtoMc Redwings were able to claim the win with a 4-2 score (I think).

After the game we gave out the Esso Medals in the dressing room;
The Most Sportsmanlike player for our team this year went to Cam Bellamy, because of his attitude towards a game that is often physical and sometimes downright violent. He is always thinking positive and friendly. He was probably the most talkative player on our bench this year. The one that really got to me was when he turned and said “Hey Coach, I hope it’s a tie game today.. I have a friend on the other team..” how can you not smile when you hear that?

The Most Improved Player went to our Goalie, Brady Depencier, there was a handful of players that were in the conversation but in the end I decided on Brady. He has gone from making me nervous every time a shot came his way to.. “breakaway? 2 on 0? penalty shot? no problem.. Brady’s got it covered”

Our most Dedicated was the toughest choice of all, we actually had 6 players on this team show up to every single game/practice on the schedule. Some of them did it looking like the walking dead, but they were there. We also had multiple players offer to fill any position needed regularly. We had players that looked like they were going to throw up because they worked so hard. With all that said I choose Gordon Bradley as our most dedicated for his attention to detail, work ethic, attitude and not to mention he was always one of the first players at the arena for practice.

This was the biggest group of new faces I have had on my team since Zach’s first year of Tyke, and like every player I have ever coached, you all have a special place in my mind and I enjoyed coaching every one of you. I hope Zach will get a chance to play with you again someday.

It’s common knowledge that one of the best things about hockey is the bonds our kids make as teammates, what people often don’t see are the friendships the parents make. My entire coaching staff is made up of parents I only met through coaching hockey, and every year I get to make new and lasting friendships. This group of parents has been among the friendliest I have had, thank you.

Lastly, I want to thank my entire coaching staff. I have had the pleasure of working with Bryan and Mark for quite a few years now, we all have the same philosophy towards the game. We also all have the same drive to develop skills, a passion for the game and help create lasting friendships for these kids. While I am listed as the Head Coach, this really is a shared duty among all 3 of us, I know I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to do it without them and hopefully will be doing it for years to come. This year we welcomed Jacob Stonefish into the group as our trainer, he has helped me out for 3 years now but this was his first season on our bench and he fits this motley crew like a glove. Bryan, Mark and Jacob thank you so much for making this a great season for me and the kids.

The End,
Coach Scott
