Games 14 & 15
This weekend the AE2 Cobra's played LaSalle 2 and Essex Ravens.

This past weekend, the AE2 Cobra’s had 2 games. A home game against the LaSalle Sabres 2 and an away game against the Essex Ravens.
The Cobra’s continued to show heart and determination in both games this weekend, especially on Saturday against second place LaSalle 2. In a back and forth battle with LaSalle, the Cobra’s dug deep to tie the game up in the third period and continued to put pressure on the LaSalle defence. At the end of the game, the score was a 3-3 tie. This was a huge step forward for AE2!!!

Game notes.
Noah Coatsworth played very well in both games this weekend. Noah’s hard work with coach Paul appears to be paying off. Weapon made one of the nicest saves I have seen all year against Essex. While the Essex forward came down the side of the rink, Noah stayed a little deep in his net and left the left side of the net exposed. Seeing that, the Essex forward shot the puck into that open space. In a fraction of a second, Noah sprawled out and made a huge glove save!!! Noah recorded a half game shutout in Essex and closed the door on any possible come back!!! Way to go Noah!
Kayden Fraser. Mr. Fraseh also played very well for us. Mr. Fraseh played the second half on the LaSalle game and closed the door on the attacking forwards who were trying to sneak in a goal at the end for the win. Mr. Fraseh quickly closed the door on that! The story was the same in Essex, Mr. Fraseh allowed only 1 goal against and stood on his head. Mista Frasehhhh.
Bradley Oickle played some of his best hockey this weekend! Bradley worked hard to clear the defensive zone and focused on being in front of the blue line in the offensive zone to keep the puck in their end. Way to go Oicks!
Jayden Baylis, played like his nickname “monster.” Jayden is a strong and very aggressive defender. He used the boards well and stopped many offensive rushes against us. Jayden is very reliable on the blue line and works very hard every game. Jayden also creates offensive opportunity with shots on net in the offensive zone and keeps the puck in play when we are in the opponents end. Way to go Jayden.
Isaac Cook worked very hard on Saturday and continues to work on rushing the puck from the defensive zone. On one particular play on Saturday, Isaac rushed the puck from end to end and shot on net. The goalie made a great save but left a nice rebound that we pounced on and scored. Isaac is continuing to become stronger on the blue-line, and is also becoming an offensive weapon. On Sunday, Isaac played as a forward and did a great job getting in open spots for shots, and back checked well. Awesome work Isaac!!!
Gregory Ansell had a bit of a rough time on Saturday, but bounced back in a huge way on Sunday. Gregory collected 2 assists on Sunday and made some excellent passes. Gregory was very reliable as the last man back and did a fantastic job using the boards to clear the puck from our end. Gregory made one of the nicest breakout passes I have seen all year when he got the puck around our blue-line, looked up and made a nice pass into the middle where we had a forward who was beginning to pick up speed. Way to rebound Gregory!
Kayden Lovell became one of the best rushing defenceman in all of the league. K-mart rushed the puck very well while using his great speed and great hands. If K-mart got caught on a rush, he was able to get back very fast and stop rushes. K-mart continues to develop on the blue-line and has become an offensive weapon. Way to go K-Mart!
Memphis Peatson is becoming a forward more every game. On Saturday, he was working hard to move the puck forward and become more involved in the offensive zone. On Sunday, Memphis was a major hassle for the Essex defence and managed to get a few shots on net. I think, that within a matter of a few games, Memphis will be a force to be reckoned with.. Watch out for this kid!!!
Mitchell Loveday played on Saturday and had, in my opinion, his best game all year. Mitchell worked hard to create offensive opportunities and put a lot of pressure on the LaSalle defence. What Mitchell learned that game, was that if you apply pressure to the opposing defence, they begin to make mistakes… Mitchell managed some to create some great scoring chances and is also becoming a great forward. Way to go Mitchell.
Noah Wilson continues to be a very offensive weapon. Noah is a fast skater who works very hard to back check. Noah continues to find chemistry on a line with Sean and Ashton. As Noah becomes more and more aggressive, look for him to continue scoring goals and racking up assists! Way to go Nator!
Reese Church continues to be one of the hardest working forwards. Whether it is his back checking or his breaking out of the defensive zone, Churchy will give you 100% at all times. Churchy had a fantastic game on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Churchy came off the ice every shift at the point of near exhaustion from working so hard. Way to go Churchy!!!
Connor Graham continues to dazzle with his magic hands. There are very few kids at this level that can dangle the way that he does. At the same time, Connor did a fantastic job at working to keep his feet moving while with the puck. Connor helped to create many scoring chances and did a super job in both games this weekend. Way to go Connor!
Dakota Marchand won most of the face-offs she took this weekend. Dakota continues to get a little better every game. It is evident that her confidence is increasing as she does more in the offensive zone. Look for Dakota to continue being a leader of the face-off circle! Once she scores that first goal, watch out!!!
Sean Rocky Mallette played very well all weekend as well. It is not hard to see that he plays very well with Noah and Ashton. Sean is one of the fastest skaters on this team and continues to impress all of us coaches with his heart, determination and speed. Sean managed to put some points on the board this weekend and is also becoming more aggressive around the net. Way to go Rocky!
Ashton Dangles Lovell played very well all weekend too. Ashton continues to be the scoring leader of this team. Ashton has great hands and blazing speed. He works well on a line with Noah and Sean and the three of them continue to put up lots of points. Ashton also works as hard as possible to come back and help the defence. Way to go Dangles.
Brayden “the Hoss,” Dehaas has become an offensive weapon. Brayden is the type of player that can play on any line and will do a fantastic job. Brayden has created scoring chances in almost every game this year. What impresses me most though, his effort in coming back and stopping rushes. On Sunday, I witnessed Brayden come back all the way to the defensive zone to stop a 2 on 1, then he took the puck and rushed it only to break free and score a beauty of a goal!! Way to go HOSS!!!

Overall, I am very pleased with the way kids are developing and the way that we are competitive every game. Who would have thought at the beginning of the year that we would be in the position we are in! I am so very proud of each and every player on this team! Keep up the great work Cobra’s!!!!
