Game 17 & 18
This weekend the AE2 Cobra's visited Erie North Shore and played a home game against Belle River 2.

The goal of this weekend was to come out and play with intensity right from the opening draw.  The last few games we sat back and tried to figure the other teams out before we made a move.  Coming into Erie North Shore, we wanted to ensure that we came out fired up and ready to play.  More of the same for Saturday as we played a home game against Belle River 2.  I think we managed to come out and compete in that game as well!

Game Notes:

Noah Coatsworth aka Weapon, played well in Fridays game, not giving up a goal! He continues to make key saves when we are in need of help. Noah has a knack for making great kick saves and keeping us in games that we are falling behind in. Keep up the great work Weapon.
Kayden Fraser, Mr. Fraseh. Fraseh is getting better every game and is playing very well. Kayden played well in Fridays game, only giving up 1 goal. On Saturday, Kayden played the entire game and really kept the cobra’s alive. Kayden has also been making some huge saves, especially with the glove. Kayden, like Noah, was faced with many shots this weekend and did a fantastic job keeping the puck out of the net. Awesome work Mr. Fraseh!
Memphis Peatson moved the puck well and supported his goalie by clearing the zone. Memphis is a developing playerand will be a solid forward for us this season. As Memphis becomes more comfortable with the transition from defence to forward, he will recognize that his skating is very strong and his confidence will increase. Memphis is beginning to move the puck more towards the net instead of shooting it away, this is a huge step forward. Way to go Memphis!
Gregory Ansell is getting better every game. Gregory is finding himself in better position more and more and is doing a great job helping to clear the zone, or keep the puck in the opposing zone.Gregory mande an amazing diving play to stop one of the Erie forwards from shooting, it was priceless!!!!!. Great work Gregory!
Isaac Cook aka Izzy, sat out of Fridays game as he was ill. That did not stop him from coming to the game to support his teammates. This is a true display of character and leadership!!!! On Saturday, Isaac, still under the weather, played as hard as he could to help us win. Way to go Izzy, keep up the great work.
Bradley Oicks, Oickle. Our captain is playing well and moving the puck well. I believe that Oicks is getting more comfortable on defence and with his continued effort working on speed and footwork, will be one of the best defenceman in the league! Way to go Oicks. Oicks also managed to keep the puck in the offensive zone a few times when we were really pressing hard against Belle River. These adjustments help us to move forward and win games. Awesome.
Kayden K-Mart Lovell. K-mart provided a strong foundation for our defence with his smooth skating and excellent clearing ability. With K-mart on defence, we automatically have an improved chance to win. The last 2 weeks we have really seen Kayden break out of his shell and produce many scoring chances with great rushes. K-mart is always working hard and did a fantastic job in both games this weekend against Erie North Shore and Belle River. Way to go K-Mart.
Dakota Marchand. Dakota was officially welcomed to the goal scoring club weekend and played 2 great games. Dakota demonstrated quite quickly that she has a lot of drive and determination and gave a lot of effort on every shift. Dakota with a variety of different forwards this weekend and will be even stronger when she becomes comfortable playing with a regular line. Accoding to Coach Paul, Dakota’s new knickname is Beardown!!!
Jayden Baylis aka Monster. Jayden is one of the most consistent players on this team. Ive mentioned this before, but each game, you know as a coach, that Jayden is going to go out there and play his hardest. Jayden has become a very reliable and hard working defenceman on this team. Additionally, when we need to move someone up to forward, Jayden can come in and provide an offensive spark. Monster can do it all. Monster’s highlight this weekend was an end to end rush against Erie that resulted in a shot on net. Great skating and breakaway speed. Great job Jayden.
Reese Church aka Churchy, has intensity and showed it again this weekend. Reese competed extremely hard and skated faster than I have seen him skate all year. Reese is a very defensive forward and is becoming one of the better back checking forwards on this team. Awesome effort Churchy!
Connor Magic Hands Graham also played fantastic all weekend. Connor is beginning to move his legs more while carrying the puck. The biggest thing that stood out to me was that he was hard for opposing defence to play against. Connor rushed hard and blocked passes, clearing attempts etc. Connor also had quite a few scoring chances and is putting the puck on net more. Connor has some of the best hands on the team and can deke his way out of a phone booth. When his feet move as fast as his hands, Connor will be scoring 10 goals a game!!! Way to go Connor!
Brayden "the Hoss" DeHaas continues to develop into one of the strongest forwards on this team. Brayden does not quit and will not quit. He calls this “Beastmode!” He works hard every shift and produces scoring chances for us. This weekend was no different, Brayden worked hard to move the puck and clear our zone. Brayden also won a lot of face-offs and still works well playing with Churchy. On one shift against Belle River, Brayden had 3 rushes and 2 were breakaways. Brayden worked so hard to get himself in a position where he could move the puck forward. Brayden has taken huge steps forward and is dramatically improving!!! Awesome work HOSS!
Noah Wilson aka Sniper, continues to put up a solid effort every game. On Friday, he continued working well with Sean and Ashton. Noah scored 1 goal in Fridays game and 1 goal on Saturdays game. Noah also had many scoring chances throughout the weekend and managed to hit the post on quite a few occasions. Noah is quickly realizing that he has incredible speed and draws penalties when he blows by defenceman. Keep up the great work Noah!!!
Ashton Lovell aka (Dangle, Score, Cellie!) Ashton played well all weekend and has really focused on his back checking while creating many scoring chances. Ashton played hard in all games and worked well with Noah and Sean. Way to go Dangles!!!
Sean aka Rocky Mallette was given the nickname of Rocky and this weekend he earned it all over again. Rocky never quit, competed hard every game and constantly wanted to be on the ice. Rocky played very well with Noah and Ashton, and between the 3 of them generated a lot of offense. Sean really developed an ability to back check and become a team leader in his demonstration to do so. Rocky must have stopped 3 or 4 breakaways this weekend and did a fantastic job for us. Way to go Rocky!
Mitchell Loveday played a very aggressive and offensive game on Friday. Mitchell put up 2 goals and had lots more in chances. Mitchell, like Connor, has great hands and is working hard at keeping his feet moving. Mitchell also worked hard to back check and did a great job clearing our zone with the puck. Awesome work Mitchell!!!

Overall, The coaches and I are very happy with how the kids played this weekend. We competed hard and came away with 4 points this weekend. This was our first undefeated weekend!!! Keep up the great work Cobra’s!!!!!
