Minor Bantam Cobras Eliminated From OMHA’s
Unfortunately this past weekend the Windsor Jr Spitfires captured the Bluewater OMHA final series by defeating the Kent Cobras 6 pts to 2 pts.  The Spitfires will now travel East to represent Bluewater against Caledon.

In game one, Windsor captured the first 2 pts at home with a 4-2 victory.  Goal scorers for the Cobras were Zach McKinlay-Hultgren and Ethan Labadie.  Adam Ross picked up the lone assist.  Owen Lemieux took the first loss in net.

In game two, the Cobras had some late game heroics to tie the series at 2 pts each.  Caley Whiteye scored on the first shift of the game on a point pass from Tadhg Copeland to take a 1-0 lead.  The Spitfires answered with 2 goals of their own late in the first to go ahead.  There was no scoring until Copeland notched the score with 1:36 remaining in the match.  Only 33 seconds later Notah Hopkins scored the eventual unassisted game winner.  Connor O’Donohue was the winning goalie.

In game three, the team fell to a 3-0 deficit early in the 3rd period before the boys started a comeback bid.  Caleb Tryon opened the Cobra scoring on a power play with assists going to Aidan Fitzmorris and Cole Tetreault.  With 4:45 remaining Ian Campbell cut the deficit to one goal with assists going to Caley Whiteye and Aiden Peel.  There was some great pressure with the goalie pulled but the Cobras could not pull even.  Windsor would lead the series 4 pts to 2 pts.  Own Lemieux had the road loss in goal.

In game four, the Spitfires would dominate the Cobras and capture the series with a 5-1 victory.  The lone cobra goal was scored by Caleb Tryon on a clean faceoff win by Brody Fraleigh.  Connor O’Donohue was the losing netminder.

Best of luck goes out to the Spitfires as they represent Bluewater in the quarter OMHA playdowns.

The Cobras will now enter the regular Bluewater playoff competition.  The team will play one round robin game against each team.  The top 4 teams will play a semi-final with the 2 winning teams playing for the Bluewater Championship at the Day of Champs in Belle River on April 1st.
