McDonalds AtoMc Red, Atom McDonalds AtoMc, 2013-2014, HL (Kent Minor Hockey Association)

Well we came to play today with positive attitudes, some energy and team passing.  Alex Strevel and Austen Venhuizen each had a hat trick while Keegan Glover and Aidyn Sprik each had an assist.  Josh Storey earned his 5th shutout of the season.  Sprik was named the game star for his energy, defensive play and good passing.  We have now clinched a berth in the day of champs for 1st place. Way to go Redwings.  You guys have worked hard all season and have all improved.   

For the second straight week we came out flat and were on the losing end something that we are not accustomed to.  The orange goalie played amazing making save after save and we were not able to capitalize on our chances and lost 5-3 to orange. No practice next week but we do play on Saturday against Yellow.  Hopefully everyone will show up this week with a better work ethic, positive team play and we can get back on a winning streak in time for Day of Champs.  Coach Quentin will be there as I will be soaking up the sun in Mexico. Team Red came out flat today and had no jump to their game today. Team Blue game out flying and played hard and deserved the win as they outworked Team Red today. Scoring for Red were Kobi Opiela and Hanhee Lee.  Aidyn Sprik had the only assist. We will regroup for next week as we play Team Orange. Keep your heads up guys and lets get back to the basics of passing the puck to our open teammates and playing like a team with good positional play and hard back checking.  See you next week at the rink with those big smiles and the desire to win again. Team red had a short bench once again.  All but one player earned a point in the win over white.  On a sad note, we had to say goodbye to one of our teammates.  Clarke Denomy and his family are heading to Australia.  We wish him all the best and we hope to make the day of champs for him. We also will miss Coach Jeff at practices and at games.  Thanks again from the whole team.  We will try to hookup with Clarke using FaceTime during one of our games. 

Team Red was hungry today and proved that they are the team to beat.  Everyone got atleast one point and Nathan Larson scored his first goal of the season.  A total team effort with nice passing and setting up some nice goals in a convincing win. Let's keep focused as we move forward in playoffs.
