Agriculture is a prominent part of Kent County and the surrounding area. Bob Devolder has been involved in farming his entire life, following in past generations of family farming. Recognizing the needs of other farmers in the area, Bob and Diane Devolder established Devolder Farms Seeds in 1988. In 1974, Bob Devolder acquired and has maintained his pedigreed seed grower status. Since then, Devolder Farms has continued to grow, process, and package quality pedigreed seed, along with retail sales of Dekalb brand soybeans and corn. Devolder Farms has been a registered company with the International Standards Organization since 2005. Being ISO 9001:2008 certified demonstrates Devolder Farms’ ability to achieve consistent quality goods and services. Devolder Farms follows specific procedures for processing pedigreed seed to ensure pure and high quality seed for you. These standards are regulated under the ISO Quality Management System and the Canadian Seed Institute Quality Management System Scope. In more recent years, Bob’s primary focus for his farming operation has shifted towards becoming what he likes to call a foundation farm. In addition to growing the higher pedigreed seed in their fields, Devolder Farms also grows experimental varieties and maintains select plots. Devolder Farms consistently processes and packages seed that meets the quality standards of purity, germination, appearance and regulatory requirements for our customers. In early 2005, Bob and Diane Devolder decided to expand their business into the farm equipment industry with the acquisition of Lachine Farm Equipment. Bob and Diane merged their businesses together in 2009, now operating as Devolder Farms Inc. Devolder Farms’ Grain Handling and Equipment division specializes in knowledgeable and service-oriented sales of grain storage, drying and handling equipment. Devolder Farms can design, supply, fabricate and install all types of projects – both farm and commercial developments. Our sales team is available to provide cost effective, performance based solutions for your operation. Site consultation and computer aided design layout are standard for each proposal that we bid on. We work with you to design a complete system or expansion customized to best fit your operation needs (whether you need extra storage capacity, upgrading an older drying system or handling equipment, or installing a bulk seed site). We stock many major parts for the equipment we sell and have a dedicated team of repair, installation and millwright crews available to service our projects throughout Ontario. Anthony-Keats Marine Ltd was formed in 1949 by Pete Anthony when he purchased the exhisting Murray McLean Company. After serving in the Navy for WW II Pete moved from Toronto to Windsor where he was training as an accountant while working for Charlie Stephens. One of C.W. Stephen's clients was the Murray McLean Company of Wheatley, Ontario. After spending time at the Murray McLean Co. Pete decided he would like to be part of the marine industry rather than be an accountant. Pete later purchased the company from Murray McLean with the help of Charlie Stephens and J.Duncan Keats. Together they formed Anthony-Keats Marine Ltd in 1949. Originally, Anthony-Keats Marine was an exclusive Chrysler Marine Engine Distributor.
