Leafs Finish Strong in Rematch Against Sharks
The Sharks came out flying today and the Leafs found themselves down 6-1 going into the third. The Sharks scored early in the third to make it 7-1. Instead of giving up, the Leafs made a game of it and played some great hockey during the final period of the game.
The only goal the Leafs scored in the first two periods was on a well placed wrist shot by Mitchell with Drew picking up the assist. With the drop of the puck to start the third period the Leafs looked like a different team. It was the Leafs that came out flying, controlling the play, pressuring the Sharks defense, and chasing down the Sharks offence. A few minutes into the third period Sawyer scored a nice goal on a breakaway. This was followed by a goal scored on a lucky bounce a couple of minutes later by Mitchell assisted by Gryphen. The Leafs kept attacking all period. When the Sharks did get any chances Kayden turned them away. Abby scored a good goal late in the third with the assist going to Dakota. Final score 7-4. Dakota took home the game MVP award for her strong efforts at both end of the rink.
Although the Leafs got off to a slow start today they finished strong. Passing and positional play by the whole team was great. Good effort Leafs. Go Leafs Go.
