COVID-19 - KMHA Update (July 23)
Submitted By Martin Steele on Thursday, July 23, 2020
The Executive Board continues to meet in order to prepare for the upcoming 2020-2021 season in regard to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

On July 21, 2020, the Board met to discuss several issues concerning our Return to Play programming. Unfortunately neither the OHF or the OMHA has provided any new information regarding the Return to Play issues. As a Board we had hoped both these Associations would have provided some new information/guidelines after most of the Province went to Stage 3 in this pandemic.
The International Silver Stick Committee advised all organizations that they cancelled the Finals' tournaments for this season.
This information has left our organization in a position with the decision to cancel our annual Quarter Final Silver Stick Tournament usually held in mid-December. Since this ice time is generally taken from our House League/Local League teams, it was determined that we would continue to rent this ice time and allow our House League and Local League players to benefit from the cancellation, depending on the availability of the ice at that time.
During our April 7, 2020 meeting, the Executive Board passed a motion to delay our Annual General Meeting (AGM) again due to the COVID-19 isolation issues. It has now been determined by the Board that any further delay of the AGM will only create a tremendous burden on the new Executive Board for our upcoming season. As such, the Board has approved August 11th, 2020 for KMHA to hold the AGM. This meeting will be held virtually. All eligible members will receive an invitation by email.
A separate message will be posted shortly providing details of the meeting, the format, the agenda, and documents that would normally be provided at our AGM and any other relevant information.
The Executive Board has also agreed to host a Summer Skills Training Camp to benefit all our players in preparation for the upcoming season. Information regarding this Camp has already been added to our website.
The Board has approved the purchase of House and Local league jerseys as well as tryout jerseys for our Travel programs.
KMHA registration continues to be on hold as per OHF and OMHA regulations concerning the collection of fees.
The Board has established liaison personnel with the Municipality and the Health Board, if and when we are allowed to return to hockey.
Please continue to follow our updates and be aware of the two other messages regarding our AGM and the Skills Training Camp.
Thank you,
Carl Herder
