KMHA return to play
KMHA is about to begin its new season. Starting the week of October 6, 2020 ice will become available for our future hockey stars.
At this point we have been allocated ice times in Tilbury, Erickson and Memorial Arenas. Thames Campus likely will not open till early January of 2021.
Fortunately it appears we have been allotted enough ice time for all 64 teams to be on the ice twice a week. Each team will have a maximum of 10 players including the goalie.
Please remember this year will look totally different than past seasons. Our goal will be to provide skill and development training.
The first several weeks will be conditioning, learning the new protocols and developing individual skills.
It is our plan to incorporate 3 on 3 and eventually 4 on 4 hockey in this process.
Parents are reminded that this new "look" is mandated by OMHA and the OHF.
This initial message is to provide parents with a little heads up that hockey is about to begin.
Ice times have been scheduled, convenors and coaches have met, teams are being selected, and calls to our players regarding their first shift will soon begin.
KMHA will post several messages in the coming days regarding the process of players entering and exiting the arenas., safety protocols, COVID 19 mandatory sign in sheets, how many parents will be allowed in the arenas, dressing and washroom facility usage, when to arrive at the arena and the worst news no food or beverages are allowed in the arenas (so fill up with your coffee prior to game times).
Although this season has been extremely challenging to organize and plan, we are hoping this added level of skill training, which the U7, U8 and U9 groups have already participated in for the last couple of seasons, will be of an equal and added benefit to all our players.
See you soon on the ice.
