Covid-19 Update
The KMHA Executive met on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 to determine what, where and how our association could move forward in offering our hockey program.
On January 12, 2021 the Province was put in a Stay at Home Order and no indoor activities were allowed to take place. At that time a message was sent to everyone that indicated if the lockdown was extended past February 1, 2021, we would cancel our program. It appears from the latest update from the Public Health Unit that no on-ice activities will be permitted until at least February 11, 2021.
As a Board we realize this further delay may create some financial issues for our members. If we are able to return to our programming after February 11, 2021 depending on ice availability, the Public Health Unit and Provincial restrictions, we will in fact do so.
In order to request ice time from the city it is imperative to know the number of players willing to continue and wait for the chance to play again. We do not know when ice will be available or how long the City intends to keep the ice in at the arenas. The City generally removes the ice during the first week of April however OMHA has advised that our season could be extended till the end of April if ice is available.
For those members that no longer wish to wait and see what happens, you are entitled to receive a full refund for your Second Session registration fees. Send our Registrar, Krista Pinsonneault, a message requesting the refund. No request for refund forms will be required. All refunds will be issued as soon as possible. For those requesting a refund, please have your requests in by January 29, 2021.
Only those members that do not wish to receive a refund and wish to remain on the list waiting for our programming to resume will be allowed to continue.
Thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding in these very difficult times.
Thank you,
Carl Herder
KMHA President
