KMHA Season Update
Submitted By Martin Steele on Tuesday, August 31, 2021
The KMHA Executive Board continues to plan our upcoming season. Unfortunately many questions remain as to what state our district will be in as far as COVID restrictions that will be in place.

KMHA coaches and staff met on Sunday, Aug. 29 to complete our Bluewater Travel schedule. It is anticipated that travel tryouts will begin for the U12 and above AA teams on September 17, 2021. The U11 and below will begin on September 20, 2021 and concluded by September 27, 2021.
AE tryouts will begin after September 27, 2021. Pre-skate dates will be announced after September 7, 2021.
Our regular season Travel games should start on October 4, 2021 and end on January 31, 2022.
House League and Local League teams should be provided ice time sometime during the last week of September.
Parents of all divisions, whether Travel, House or Local League, should be aware that COVID mandates are being instituted in several Ontario locations.
The GTA (Toronto), London and Leamington have all, within the last week, advised that all players, coaches, staff and spectators will be required to be fully vaccinated to enter their respective arenas. Leamington has mandated their policy to be effective September 8, 2021.
Unless a KMHA player, coach, staff, and spectator is fully vaccinated or can provide proof of a rapid test taken within 12 hours of being on the ice, no entry to GTA, London or Leamington arenas will be allowed.
These restrictions appear to be just the start of the many locations that will follow suit. The OHF (Ontario Hockey Federation) announced yesterday that all Minor Hockey Associations are encouraged fully to vaccinate players and staff. Since the timeline for vaccinations and our season starting may become a serious issue, KMHA strongly recommends all players (12 and over) and staff become vaccinated.
The goal of the Executive is to consider all possible restrictions that could jeopardize our season and deal with them in a proactive manner. It is our hope to provide a safe and enjoyable season for all our members
