KMHA continues to update and provide the latest information to our members regarding COVID-19 restrictions as they are issued by all levels of governments and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. KMHA is responsible for enforcing the restrictions issue by the Municipality and the OMHA however these policies are not to be considered the policies of KMHA.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent and the Public Health Unit have advised that as of September 22, 2021, all spectators entering the arena must be fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means 14 days after receiving your second vaccination shot. Proof of vaccination must be provided.

The Municipality requires social distancing and masks be worn by all persons entering the arena. The Municipality advises accommodation requests can be made through the Public Health Unit. Accommodation requests at this time will only be considered for MEDICAL reasons.

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has released their vaccination policy which takes effect on October 31, 2021. The OMHA policy refers only to players and team staff members and not to facilities which are under the jurisdiction of each Municipality. The OMHA policy requires all affected persons, 12 years and older, to be fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021. Affected persons includes all players, volunteers, coaches, trainers, Board members, game officials and instructors.

In order to be considered fully vaccinated, affected persons must have received their second shot 14 days prior to October 31, 2021 (Oct. 17). In order to meet the vaccination policy deadline persons must have their first shot prior to September 19, 2021.

The OMHA policy complies with the Ontario Human Rights Code and will provide accommodation to any affected person who is unable to be vaccinated for substantiated medical reasons and/or such grounds protected under the OHRC such as creed, religion, sex, or gender. However, the accommodation must not inflict undue hardships on other affected persons. OMHA accommodation requests must be approved by an OMHA committee prior to October 31, 2021. KMHA has no role in this approval process.

Persons wishing to apply for such accommodation can find the documentation at OMHA Accommodation Form web site.

KMHA will be setting up an email address for any other questions regarding Covid policy concerns at [email protected]
