The Executive Board continues to meet during the off-season to preparefor our upcoming 2025-2026 season.Several issues have been discussed as a result of our AGM held in May.
Executive members have indicated a number of issues as to how KMHA will deliver quality programming in the future. This report is intended to advise and give some transparency in decisions that have already taken place.
As reported after our AGM it was apparent that a new date be set for our local AGM. The date in the past has annually been the second Wednesday of April, however, OMHA decided that spring tryouts would take place in
late April and early May. The AGM is an opportunity to thank both sponsors and volunteers for their commitment and dedication to our program. The one issue that is a statutory requirement at the AGM is approving a financial report and determining an Audit Firm for the following season. The AGM for our next season will be held on May 27, 2026. This date will allow the audit firm to complete the required inspection and also allow coaching staffs to complete spring tryouts with no interference.
KMHA recently tendered a Request for Quotes in order to meet our equipment requirements. Belle River Source for Sports will continue to serve our needs for the next three seasons. Family members will be able to purchase items online on the KMHA website as well.
The Executive Board at our June 17, 25 meeting formed two separate committees to enhance our image and provide consistency in our approach
to equipment purchases.
The Cobra Day Committee will be organizing our first ever " Cobra Day Weekend" in the fall of 2026. This event will support and celebrate our young hockey players. Community partners, raffles, fun and games, food
venders combined with our picture day will all make this an exciting weekend for our parents and players.
The second, a Branding Committee, was formed to provide consistency in equipment purchases, with the goal of having our organization project a professional appearance. Both the above committees will require additional volunteers when needed.
Our House League program still requires a Convenor in our U11 and U15 Divisions.
One of our biggest challenges for the upcoming season is to register enough goalies in our U13 and U15 programs. Last season's goalies are encouraged to either register or notify our VP of House League, Kevin Bowers, their intentions of returning. Kevin can be contacted at
[email protected]. KMHA will consider accepting goalies that may have been displaced due to the OMHAs new ruling on Open Borders that have no opportunities to play net at their home centre.
Members hoping to coach in our House League program this coming season are also advised to contact Kevin or our
Registrar- Krista to complete the necessary documents and OMHA requirements for coaching staff. KMHA will continue its affiliation with IHS Coaching. This program allows coaches, at all levels, to seek assistance in training materials.
KMHA has also completed an upgrade to our goalie development program by hiring Future Pro Goalie School. This service can provide both on-ice and off-ice instruction, attending team practices, video analysis, and building confidence for younger goalies. This service is designed for all levels of our program.
Both the above programs will be overseen by our Director of Development and Education.
The Executive Board will continue to pursue issues that develop our players, staff and coaches by supporting mentoring programs and hosting roundtable discussions. Our goal will be to create networks, use social media and encourage community support. Creating efficiencies and still providing the best possible programs will ensure our success. Community Sponsorship is a key component in allowing all families the opportunity to play at reasonable rates and we wish to thank Taco Bell for joining our team.
KMHA is currently in discussions with the Parks and Recreation Department in its annual Ice Allocation meetings in the hopes of providing extra practice ice to assist in further development opportunities.
Two major issues facing the Executive will be to update our Rules of Operations and our Constitutional By-Laws.
The Executive Board wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable summer.
