Pre-Skate and Tryout Prep.
Dear Players and Parents;
I'd like to welcome you to the 2019-2020 Major Novice AA pre-skates and tryouts. Our upcoming skates will consist of four (4) “Pre-Skates” to allow players to get their feet back on the ice. This is to be followed by three (3) Tryout sessions where evaluations will begin. The roster will not be adjusted until after the third tryout session. The roster adjustments will be shown on the KMHA website to indicate those players continuing on with the team

Players, please take time prior to the first pre-skate on September 3rd 2019 to make sure that you have your own water bottle labeled with your name. All players must wear a neck and mouth guard in order to be allowed on the ice. It would also be a good idea to ensure that all of your equipment fits and your skates are sharp.

Parents, try to have your players arrive early to the first session in order to allow for enough time to register, receive their jersey and get dressed (40-50 minutes prior). We would like all players ready and waiting in the dressing rooms assigned 5 minutes prior to the Zamboni finishing the ice. Players are asked to remain in the dressing rooms until the coaches provide direction.

Note to players - There may be drills that you have not participated in before, or that are a bit unfamiliar. Please keep a positive attitude and do the drills to the best of your ability.   What are the coaches looking for?
- Effort (skating hard in all drills and completing drills as described/demonstrated by the on ice staff)
- Listening and focus (paying attention to on ice staff and not looking into the stands)
- Technical skills (passing, shooting, skating etc.)

- Attitude (on and off the ice as well as in the dressing room)
- Leadership and Character (staying positive during all circumstances)

A few things to remember on the ice during Pre-skate and tryouts:
- Pay attention to the drills when they are shown to you by on ice staff. If there are questions that come up while on the ice please ask before taking your turn in the drill. - Do not shoot or play with pucks while waiting for your turn in the drill. Pay attention to your surroundings. (i.e. Coaches and other players)

Have fun on the ice! Remember that is the main reason we are all here!

See everyone on Tuesday September 3rd at the first skate. Have a great first day of school!
