Every Second Counts…
The Game
didn’t start out as well as we hoped. The Rangers tore out of the gate with 2
real quick goals in the first. Max was able to stop the bleeding by getting the
Sharks on the board on his first shift of the game. …and that was about it for
2 periods. The game was really tight the whole way, there was really very
little separation to be had out there, so breakaways came at a premium. Both
goalies stood strong turning all shots away and defence was strong on both
teams. As the clock was running out in the 2nd the Rangers’ Aiden W was steaming in on a
slight break with a defenseman right on his tail. 5-4-3… he ripped a shot that
Williem stopped with his head, 2…the puck rolled off his helmet and started
towards the goal line 1.. and just before the buzzer sounded the ref signalled goal.
It was heartbreaking and really deflated the Sharks team. We came out in the 3rd
and tried to work through it. But halfway through, Karter K found the back of
the net to give the Rangers a 2 goal lead. The Sharks decided that it was all
or nothing at the 5 minute point and made some line adjustments to try to get
back in the game. At 4:31 a scrum ensued at the Rangers’ net and the puck found
Kalib’s stick, he didn’t hesitate to bury it and get the Sharks to within 1.
That would be all the offence the Sharks could muster. The Rangers would
add one more goal before the end of the game to post a final score of 5-2.
A couple of
big plays stand out in my head from today, the first one was a post to post
save Williem made on one timer attempt in the second period (He would end up
making 29 saves today), another one, was how quickly Lydia adjusted her game to
break up multiple potential breakaways, The there was Ryan turning into a forechecking monster
for about 30 seconds when the puck was in the Rangers zone, Elliot found another
gear I think and is starting to catch up to speed with a lot of other players and
last but not least was Gabe identifying when he needed to get a head start on
puck carriers coming out of the Rangers Zone (Something we have been working on
for a couple weeks now and he seems to have perfected it). The Sharks Teeth this week went to Logan on forward who
worked his butt off just getting the puck into the offensive zone not to
mention finding multiple high quality scoring chances and Bryson who was mister
consistency on the blue line and was raved about by the coaching staff. Keep up
the good work Team this was a tough loss, lets bring it even harder next week,
I know we can put up a “W”
See you at
the Rink.
