Game 2, Penguins
Game 2 of the season, in the books.

The Rangers had the task of playing against the Penguins today.  The Penguins have some strong goal scorers on that team, like Max Reaume, so we knew we had to play well defensively.

The Rangers were ready for this game.  Coach Dale did an excellent job getting the kids fired up and ready to play. From the opening face off, the Rangers skated hard and managed to get a few shots, plus a great breakaway from Assistant Captain, Aiden V.  The Penguins goalie made a great save on a tough shot from Aiden V.  The next shift, Kaleb Wilson came out and scored on a great shot in front of the net.  Kaleb Wilson finished the game with 5 goals and 1 assist, and had 3 or 4 shots on net that were saved. Playing well with Kaleb was Williem Seguin.  These 2 forwards have enjoyed playing together and have developed some awesome offensive chemistry.
2 more goals were scored by Assistant Captain, Luc Kirchner.  Luc skated hard and made some great defensive plays as well.  Luc has consistently been one of the hardest working kids on the team. Also noted, Luc Kirchner and Noah Wilson played very well together...
Ranger Captain, Ethan Vandermeersch, played one shift on offence and managed to score a goal on a well placed pass by Kaleb Wilson.  Afterwards, Ethan returned to defence where he continues to be an anchor for the Rangers.
Noah Wilson managed to record his first ever point on a great assist on one of Luc Kirchner's goals.  Noah also skated hard every shift and has developed an offensive presence.
Other honourable mentions:
  • Kassidy Teare continued her dominance as our goalie, making tough saves on great shots.
  • Ethan Crow continues to be a strong and dominant defence man for the Rangers.  Ethan has amazing hockey sense and is always in the right position on the ice.
  • Aiden Solway played well on both defence and offence.  Aiden continues to develop and notable improvement is noticed each game.
  • Serenity Primeau continues to gain confidence and is playing her best hockey!
  • Memphis and Carter both took huge steps forward and have developed significantly.  Memphis looks like a skilled NHL defence man with those glasses!!!
  • Victor, Owen and Devon all have continued to take big steps forward in their development.
  • Asher continues to prove that he has endless energy and is afraid of no boards!!!  Asher played well on offence and made some great cleaning passes today!
  • Aiden V showed some great leadership today in making great passes to his teammates.

Overall, all of us Ranger coaches are very happy with the effort of the kids and we are all looking forward to next game.  See you tomorrow Rangers.
