Game 5 vs. The Flyers
The Rangers had the tough task of playing against the Flyers, without 2 of our young superstars!

As Superstars Lucas Kirchner and Ethan Crow were not able to attend todays game, we knew we had an even tougher task.  Fortunately, Aiden Venhuizen, Kaleb Wilson, Aiden Solway and Asher Wygiera answered the call!

Game notes:
  • Aiden Venhuizen saw a lot of ice time today as he worked to help balance the lines with some of our less experienced players.  In addition to scoring 2 goals, Aiden played hard and came back to help the defence on every shift.  Aiden also made some great passes to his line mates.  Today, Aiden played like a true Assistant captain.  Coaches are proud of you buddy!
  • Kaleb Wilson continued on his scoring streak by adding a goal and an assist.  Kaleb also skated very hard and made 2 or 3 excellent passes to Williem Seguin and Noah Wilson.  Kaleb also worked to help balance the lines with some of the less experienced players.
  • Williem Seguin continues to be a strong scoring forward. He positions himself very well on the ice and is an excellent passer.  Williem and Kaleb continue to play very well together and seem to know where to find each other when on the ice.
  • Owen Lamb took the coaches advice today and shot the puck more. One of those shots came from just behind the blue line where he riffled it in between the goalie's legs for his first of the season.  Owen has also significantly improved his positioning on the ice and played a good defensive game.
  • Noah Wilson had many, many scoring chances today.  During the 3rd period, he out hustled the defence on the outside and fired a rocket towards the net.  This resulted in Noah's first goal of the season.  Noah was notably working hard on every shift and has also significantly improved.
  • Memphis continues to improve on defence.  Today he learned that he needs to stand in front of the blue line when in the opposing teams zone!  We will continue to work on this.  Memphis managed to record his first assist of the year on a beautiful pass to Kaleb Wilson.  Nice work Memphis.
  • Team Captain, Ethan Van Der Meersch continues to anchor the defence.  He was rock solid in both the offensive and defensive zone.  Ethan kept the puck in the Flyers end numerous times resulting in many good shots from the forwards.  Ethan has become an unsung hero on this team.  His hard work results in scoring chances for the forwards and less shots on our net.  Way to go captain!!!
  • Devon Wilson continues to improve.  He is working hard at shooting the puck and staying with the play. Since week one, Devon looks like a completely different player.  He has dramatically improved his skating and works very hard every shift. Devon also never complains and listens very well to the coaches. Awesome!
  • Asher played like he was on a mission today.  Asher told me on the bench, perhaps almost every shift, that his legs hurt because he is skating so fast!  Asher played hard and won many face-offs.  Asher never gave up and was rock solid on forward.  Asher has also come so far in his development and seems to have the most fun on the ice!  Awesome, awesome, awesome job Asher!
  • Carter Evans continues to skate hard and picked up where he left off from last game.  He is following the play and skating hard.  Keep up the hard work Carter.
  • Serenity, Landyn and Victor also played well.  Each one is learning new positions and gave a great effort.
  • Aiden Solway, here we go again. Aiden is quickly becoming a defensive stud!  Aiden, like Ethan Vandermeersch, made countless clearing attempts, blocked shots, and kept the puck in the offensive zone. This little guy does it all.  Aiden plays like he is 6 foot 5 and 240 pounds.  He is not afraid of getting in the corners and working for the puck.  Awesome job Aiden.
  • Kassidy Teare continues to be a rock solid goalie.  Kassidy faced many shots, all of which were tough.  She came up big for us again today.  This started immediately as the flyers quickly went on a breakaway from the first puck drop; Kassidy made a beautiful save to keep the Rangers in the game.  The Rangers are a strong team when Kassidy is in net.  She gives us a chance to win every game. The Rangers are certainly lucky to have her as our goalie!

Points.
2 goals for Aiden Venhuizen
1 goal for Kaleb Wilson
1 goal for Noah Wilson
1 goal for Owen Lamb
1 goal for Williem Seguin
1 assist for Kaleb Wilson
1 assist for Memphis Peatson.

Special thanks to Matt Solway for working the defence in Coach Jeffs' absence.  Matt did a great job leading the defence today.  Way to step up and help Coach Matt!  You did a great job with the defence.

See you at the rink, Rangers.
Coach Anthony
