Dec 7th vs Team Yellow
Team Black Breaks Winless Streak with Strong Offensive and Defensive Game through all three periods!
It was a great game for Team Black today! Our boys were ready to go from the drop off the puck and kept the pressure steady until the final buzzer sounded! Not only did we have our highest scoring game of the season, but we played a great defensive game clearing the puck and killing off penalties!
Period 1 started off with good pressure as Gabe got our first goal at 9:17 with a quick shot to the glove side. Hunter, Ethan, Porter and Joey were hungry for the puck as they made it tough on the opposition. Dylan was shifted to defence today and paired up with Carson C. Team Yellow came back quick trying to tie the game, but Roman made a nice glove save to hold the early lead. Then at 4:12, Gabe got his second and finished off a hat trick at 1:10 with a quick tip in as a shot came from the side! We were out to an early 3-0 lead as the period was coming to an end, but took a penalty at 1:10 left.
Period 2 saw us kill off the penalty with Roman making another nice stop, but at 9:47, Yellow scored on a rebound. Yellow kept coming at 8:06 with their second goal on a screened shot at 8:06. The team didn't panic though and struck back after killing off a 5 on 3 when Brady skated the puck out from his own end and scored a short-handed goal. it was 4-2 and the team was still pumping!
Period 3 opened with Aiden taking a pass from the boards and scoring with a slap shot low on the stick side at 12:06 to make it 5-2! Another penalty was called at 10:54, but our defence pairings of Carson/Dylan and Brady and Carson kept the puck to the outside. Then at 7:53 Yellow got a goal on a one-timer, but we quickly countered with a goal from Dom as the guys kept going to the front of the net! Dom then made it 7-3 with a high glove shot. and then another with a wrap around! On yet another PK, Gabe came from his own end to get another short-handed goal. The boys continued to pour on pressure but the opposition was able get another as one rolled down our goalie's back, barely crossing the line.
Dylan was named Player of the Game for his great play on his first game at Defence. Our entire team played hard today! Whether it was being tough on the boards, back-checking, clearing the puck or killing off penalties, everyone played with energy and didn't slack off when the opposition tried to mount a comeback!
