Playoff Game 2 vs.AtoMc Blue
Still Rolling!

The Redwings started a bit late today as Blue had us hemmed in our own zone for the first 3 minutes of the game. Our group weathered the storm and started pushing the puck back towards the blue zone.

About midway through the first we started looking like ourselves and worked as a unit. Our first goal came at 4:18 of the first when Cam tipped in a shot from Kalib. YES! Finally! Our Camo broke through today and one of my season goals was realized. He has been Johnny on the spot all season and every game he seems to get a few chances, today he got his! Good job buddy we are so proud! Our next goal came from Hunter with assists going to Gordo and Cam.

Period 2 was pretty tight with no goals being scored on either end. Going into period 3 with a 2-0 lead was anything but a sure thing especially against a group coming off of a big win last week. Hunter chipped in his second of the game early in period 3 with Tyler getting the helper. When Christian made it 4-0 with less than 5 to go (assisted by Williem) we breathed a sigh of relief and started focusing on Brady's shut out bid. As the seconds ticked down and the buzzer went off, the kids charged Brady for a celebration that looked Stanley Cup worthy.

This win and shutout was a product of outstanding team work. Jax continues to improve his game in all 3 zones, Adam is picture perfect in his positioning, Aden is our worrier along the boards and then there is our Defence, the fantastic 5 consisting of Lydia, Robert, Greg, Gordo and Zach. They work off of each other and force the opposition to get creative if they want to get anywhere near our net. Should that happen we have a goalie with ice in his veins to deny almost anything that comes his way.

This team is not only a great group of kids, they are a blast to watch now. I can't wait to see them on the ice every chance I get.

The Golden Jersey went to Lydia Houle this week, because she is the ultimate safety net on the ice. She rarely does anything flashy, she doesn't seek attention but she quietly goes about her business as a shut down defensman (err defense-woman) who can always be counted on to break up plays. I have had her on my team for 4 years now and she has always been one of the most dependable players I have ever coached. Well done and well deserved Lydie!

Our next game is against the powerhouse Flyers at 10:40. Until then...

See ya at the rink!
