Games 5,6, & 7
Kent AE1, Riverside Rangers, and Windsor Jr. Spitfires.

This weekend, the kids played Kent AE1, Riverside Rangers, and the Windsor Jr. Spitfires.

The kids came to the rink on Friday with a little extra motivation playing against the AE1 team. The AE1 team has been playing very well and the AE2 team really wanted to compete. It is safe to safe that we competed!

Saturday, we found our compete level was very low which resulted in a 5-2 loss to Riverside. Coming back to the rink on Sunday, we found our compete level and played very well against Windsor. The first period ended at a 0-0 tie, with our boys producing many scoring chances. Most notably, the opening faceoff when Ashton and Noah went in on a 2 on 1 and Noah beat the goalie with a snap shot, only to have it hit the post. As the second period went on, we began to lose out legs and fall out of position. However, as they have demonstrated many times, these kids have heart and with a minute left in the game, Ashton, Sean and Noah pressed hard to put in a goal, and after 3 shots, Sean scored!

Game Notes:
Noah Coatsworth aka Weapon, played well in all games this weekend. He continues to make key saves when we are in need of help. Noah has a knack for making great kick saves and keeping us in games that we are falling behind in. Keep up the great work Noah.
Kayden Fraser, Mr. Fraseh. Fraseh is getting better every game and is playing very well. Kayden has also been making some huge saves, especially with the glove. Kayden, like Noah, was faced with many shots this weekend and did a fantastic job keeping the puck out of the net. Awesome work Mr. Fraseh!
Memphis Peatson sat the first period of Friday’s game. When he came into the game, he did some of the best skating he has done all season. He moved the puck well and supported his goalie by clearing the zone. Memphis is developing and will be a solid defenceman for us this season. One more week of hard work and Memphis will be officially known as Optimus Prime!
Gregory Ansell is getting better every game. Gregory is finding himself in better position more and more and is doing a great job helping to clear the zone, or keep the puck in the opposing zone. Gregory will continue to improve and will be a reliable defenceman for us. Great work Gregory! (Still waiting on those practice socks Gregory!!!) Also, sorry I keep calling you George!
Isaac Cook aka Izzy, still doesn’t know that he is not 6”4, 235 pounds. Izzy plays a big game and has no issue putting himself in front of the puck. Izzy is also getting comfortable on defence and is beginning to skate a little more with the puck. Way to go Izzy, keep up the great work.
Bradley Oicks, Oickle. Our captain is playing well and moving the puck well. I believe that Oicks is getting more comfortable on defence and with his continued effort working on speed and footwork, will be one of the best defenceman in the league! Way to go Oicks.
Kayden K-Mart Lovell. K-mart had his first game as an AP for our team on Friday. K-mart provided a strong foundation for our defence with his smooth skating and excellent clearing ability. With K-mart on defence, we automatically have an improved chance to win. And, like his brother Ashton, is another great kid on our team of great kids!
Dakota Marchand. Dakota was officially welcomed to the team fulltime this weekend and played 3 great games this weekend. Dakota demonstrated quite quickly that she has a lot of drive and determination and gave a lot of effort on every shift. Dakota with a variety of different forwards this weekend and will be even stronger when she becomes comfortable playing with a regular line. Way to go Dakota, we are all glad that you have joined our team full time. We will get to work on a nickname for you this week!
Jayden Baylis aka Monster. Jayden is one of the most consistent players on this team. Each game, you know as a coach, that Jayden is going to go out there and play his hardest. Like Isaac, he plays a big game and has an impact on every shift. What I also learned this weekend from Jayden was that he has an ability to score huge goals. Jayden broke free on Friday, beating the defenders and had an amazing dangle goal that brought everyone to their feet. It was an amazing goal and quite possibly, the goal of the year so far!!!
Reese Church aka Churchy, has intensity and showed it this weekend picking up 2 roughing penalties in the first period of Fridays game. Reese competed extremely hard and skated faster than I have seen him skate all year. Reese is a very defensive forward and is becoming one of the better back checking forwards on this team. Awesome effort Churchy!
Connor Graham also played fantastic all weekend. Connor is beginning to move his legs more while carrying the puck. The biggest thing that stood out to me was that he was hard for opposing defence to play against. Connor rushed hard and blocked passes, clearing attempts etc. Connor also had quite a few scoring chances and is putting the puck on net more. Way to go Connor!
Brayden DeHaas continues to develop into one of the strongest forwards on this team. Brayden does not quit and will not quit. He works hard every shift and produces scoring chances for us. This weekend was no different, Brayden worked hard to move the puck and clear our zone. Brayden also won a lot of face-offs and still works well playing with Jayden. Awesome work Brayden! Also, I think I may have a nickname for you and will talk to you at dryland.
Noah Wilson aka Sniper, continues to put up a solid effort every game. On Friday, he continued working well with Sean and also developed a chemistry working with Ashton. Noah scored 2 goals in Fridays game. The first goal of that game came from a beautiful 2 on 1 pass from Ashton, right on the tape of Noah’s stick, and Noah snapped a rifle of a shot and scored. Noah also had many scoring chances throughout the weekend and managed to hit the post on quite a few occasions. Keep up the great work Noah!!!
Ashton Lovell aka (Dangle, Score, Cellie!) Ashton played his first 3 games with us as an AP this weekend. Ashton quickly established himself as one of our most dominant forwards and created many scoring chances. Ashton played hard in all games and worked well with Noah and Sean. When the weekend was finished, Ashton had recorded 5 goals and 2 assists. Way to go Dangles!!! Like his brother and Dakota, great kid on and off the ice and a welcomed addition to our team.
Sean aka Rocky! Sean was given the nickname of Rocky this weekend. What a fitting name. Rocky never quit, competed hard every game and constantly wanted to be on the ice. Rocky played very well with Noah and Ashton, and between the 3 of them generated a lot of offense. Sean really developed an ability to back check and become a team leader in his demonstration to do so. Rocky must have stopped 3 or 4 breakaways this weekend and did a fantastic job for us. At this rate, Sean will be playing in the NHL within 5 years!!! Way to go Rocky!

Overall, The coaches and I are very happy with how the kids played this weekend. We may not win them all, but we compete in every game and are only getting better. Most importantly, I think it is safe to say that we are having a lot of fun along the way! See you all at dryland on Wednesday!
