Games 12 & 13
Southpoint Capitals and LaSalle Sabres 1.

What another great weekend of hockey that has just passed.
This weekend the AE2 cobras played the Southpoint Capitals and LaSalle Sabres 1.

The weekend started with a game in Southpoint on Friday night. At the start of this game we came out slow. We had a few opportunities and so did Southpoint. After the midway point of the first period, the Cobra’s began to turn it on. The second and third period saw the Cobra’s putting a lot of pressure on the capitals and we produced many scoring chances. The Southpoint goalie played a fantastic game and made many huge saves. Our entire team played a great game. From great saves by Noah Coatsworth, who played the entire game and only let in 1 goal, to the great work from the defence. The defence, especially Gregory, cleared the puck well, and had some great rushes by Kayden and Isaac. Forwards were working hard to come back and help the defence. Brayden, Sean, Reese, Memphis all worked hard coming back to help the defence and played a great defensive game. Ashton, Noah, Mitchell, Connor and Dakota produced some fine scoring chances. I believe that Dakota may have had 10 shots on net, and won almost all of her face-offs!!! Overall, great work Cobra’s! Final score was 8-1 for the Cobra's!

On Sunday, we were looking to continue with our winning ways. We came out of the gate with a little more fire but then quickly fizzled out! This game was not a typical game for the Cobra’s as we did a lot of watching and were not moving our feet as much. Overall, we kept up with the LaSalle team and produced some scoring chances. In this game, we witnessed our first ever penalty shot as Noah Wilson was dragged down on a breakaway. We also got to see Memphis take the puck end to end and crash into the net. The next time he does that, I am sure the puck will be with him!!! As far as back checking goes, I think Brayden "Hoss," Dehaas put on a clinic of what that should look like.  Brayden worked hard to come back and help the defence.  What an effort!  Mr. Fraseh, Kayden Fraser played the entire game in LaSalle. He played quite well and gave us a chance to win! While we may have come up short on the scoreboard, one thing remains true; We don’t give up!!

The coaches are all proud of how far we have come and look forward to practice tonight!!!
